Our THINK-BUILD-CHANGE SALONE vision aims at engaging Sierra Leonean youth at home and abroad to actively participate in the nation’s development through volunteerism, and community service. As they transition to adulthood, our youth have a variety of needs including skills for economic self-reliance; citizenship skills; conflict resolution skills; teamwork; leadership; discipline and ethics; academic support, communication and social responsibility.
Goal : The Goal of the TBCS Program is to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for the effective participation of Sierra Leonean youth in national development: EXCEL provides participants with a variety of opportunities for growth through, academic support, job training and job creation; civic participation; sports and recreation; leadership; and health training. An internship is a flexible, practical assignment, geared to providing a young person with meaningful opportunities to develop employability skills, in preparation for subsequent employment or self-employment at the end of the internship. The concept of internship implies structured learning experiences and coaching by a mentor. Mentoring is a key feature of the program. Each intern will have an identified mentor who will assist the intern in acquiring knowledge and skills as well as visualizing career goals and ways to reach them.
